5 top tips for large group travel – after you get home
Congratulations! You’ve been on your absolutely epic group trip! You’ve all had a blast, you’ve had new adventures, deepened the bonds between you, laughed until you cried, and made memories to last a lifetime. In fact, you had such a good time that you’re all already planning your next group getaway! But before you do that, there are a few last things you need to do before the trip is well and truly over.
1. Pay your debts promptly
First things first: Settle up. With group travel, unless you’re incredibly disciplined and pay each other back after every single transaction (which also isn’t all that efficient), then chances are you’ll have paid for some things while others will have paid for others. That’s the main reason why we recommend downloading a bill splitting app before you’ve even gone on your group trip: when you get home, figuring out who owes what isn’t a massive headache, it’s all done for you! Settling the bills is a really important way to make sure the high you’re riding from your trip isn’t diminished by post-trip admin and tensions.
2. Share your photos
At Hirasté, one of our favourite things about group travel is that you’ve got a ready-made group of people to reminisce with and tell stories to in years to come! We love looking back at old photos and remembering all those great times we had. Set up a shared drive so you can get the best of everyone’s snaps and, if you’re feeling super creative, put them in a video montage for you all to enjoy.
3. Spread the word
Do you remember why you chose the place you did? Maybe it was because a friend recommended it, maybe an influencer you follow went there, or maybe you booked it because you trusted the vetting process of a group booking site like Hirasté. Word of mouth is our favourite way to discover new destinations, so be sure to tell all your friends about your amazing trips and leave fabulous reviews for the restaurants, accommodations, and activity providers.
4. Take time to reflect
Did everyone get along better than expected? Were mealtimes ridiculously stressful? Did one person do all the work (and did they mind)? It might sound more like a work review than something fun, but thinking about what went well (and what didn’t) is a great way to ensure that your next group trip is even more successful than the last one.
5. Start planning the next group trip!
Finally, it’s time to capitalise on all the great momentum and energy from your adventure and start planning again! Will you go back to the same place or try somewhere new? Will you go with the same people at the same time of year or will you go for longer with a completely new group? With so many options open to you, the world is your oyster.
