Glen Clova Hotel and Lodges

Where Highland beauty meets warm hospitality.

At the foot of Glen Doll in the Cairngorms National Park, Hotel Glen Clova is a place where Scotland’s rugged beauty meets genuine Highland warmth. Just 90 minutes north of Edinburgh, yet a world apart from city life, it is surrounded by the wild, unspoilt landscapes of the Angus Glens — a backdrop that invites adventure, relaxation, and a deep breath of fresh air.

The nine luxury lodges and two elegant houses provide a self-catering escape with a difference. Each is thoughtfully designed and fully equipped, whether you’re planning a family break, a gathering of friends, or a romantic escape. From cosy cottages for two to a country house that sleeps up to ten, there’s space for groups both large and small, with the option of private hot tubs for a little extra indulgence.

What makes Glen Clova unique is the balance it strikes: the independence of a private lodge or house, paired with the easy access to the hotel’s facilities. Guests can enjoy a quiet evening cooking together in their own space, or wander across to the hotel to share a meal in the restaurant, sample local produce at the bar, or relax in the friendly atmosphere of the bothy. It’s a chance to experience the very best of Scotland — dramatic scenery, seasonal food, and a heartfelt welcome — all in one unforgettable setting.

Plan Your Stay

A stay at Glen Clova is all about balance: wide open skies and cosy corners, independence and connection, comfort and adventure. Spend your days exploring the Cairngorms National Park, wandering along trails through the Angus Glens, or simply soaking in the peace of this remote valley. Return to your lodge or house to cook together and relax in your own private space, or stroll across to the hotel to enjoy hearty Scottish dining and a friendly welcome.

However you choose to spend your time, Glen Clova offers the perfect backdrop for making memories.

Rooms

From cosy cottages to spacious houses, Glen Clova’s nine lodges and two beautifully appointed homes blend modern comfort with the wild beauty of the Cairngorms.

Lodges
Nestled within the grounds, the nine luxury lodges blend contemporary style with the charm of the surrounding landscape. Designed for comfort and convenience, they come fully equipped for a self-catering break, whether you’re planning a short escape or a longer holiday. Each lodge makes the most of its natural setting, with open-plan living spaces, stunning views, and the option of a private hot tub for a little added indulgence. Some are pet-friendly, so your four-legged friends can join the adventure too.

Houses
For larger groups or those looking for extra space, the two elegant houses are ideal. One is a spacious country home that sleeps up to ten guests, perfect for family gatherings or a break with friends, while the other is a cosy cottage designed for smaller groups of up to four. Both offer breathtaking views, private hot tubs, and all the comforts of home, with the added benefit of being just a short stroll from the hotel.

Activities

Nestled in the Angus Glens at the foot of Glen Doll, Glen Clova is your gateway to Scotland’s wild side. Whether you’re drawn to energetic adventures or gentler moments of calm, the landscape here offers something for everyone.

Step straight from your lodge or house into the Cairngorms National Park, where trails range from riverside strolls to challenging mountain climbs. Cycle quiet glen tracks, cast a line in the River South Esk, or tee off at nearby golf courses. The area is home to red deer, golden eagles, and an array of Scottish wildlife, making it a favourite for walkers, photographers, and nature lovers alike. Those looking to slow down can enjoy yoga or wellness sessions, or simply capture the scenery through photography and painting.

For something different, try clay pigeon shooting, game stalking, or guided shooting experiences in the surrounding hills. Or head into Kirriemuir to explore local highlights such as the Gateway to the Glens Museum, the Camera Obscura, J. M. Barrie’s birthplace, or the dramatic falls at Reekie Linn.

After a day in the fresh Highland air, return to your lodge or house, sink into your private hot tub, or wander across to the hotel for hearty Scottish dining and a warm welcome.

Location

Hotel Glen Clova sits in the heart of the Angus Glens, at the very edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Just 90 minutes north of Edinburgh, the journey here takes you from rolling lowland fields into a landscape that feels truly remote — where mountains rise dramatically, rivers cut through deep valleys, and silence stretches for miles.

The setting is one of Scotland’s hidden treasures: peaceful yet wild, unspoilt yet welcoming. From your doorstep, you can step straight into Glen Doll for walks among towering peaks, or simply sit back and watch the changing light sweep across the hills. Despite the sense of seclusion, the nearby town of Kirriemuir offers history, charm, and a touch of culture, from its Camera Obscura and J. M. Barrie heritage to cosy cafés and local shops.

This balance of wilderness and accessibility makes Glen Clova a place apart — close enough for a weekend break, yet far enough to feel like a true escape into the Highlands.
