Family friendly farmhouse stays in the heart of Somerset.
Model Farm Country House offers luxury self-catering accommodation for large groups, with versatile accommodation in up to 11 double or family bedrooms with 10 bathrooms. There’s lots of space for the largest groups both inside and outside with everything you need for a relaxing weekend or action-packed week.
The house consists of an imposing Victorian front addition to a 17th century farmhouse. The self-catering area consists of the whole of the main house and includes the more rustic cider barn. The Victorian part of the house retains most of the original features such as, high moulded ceilings, marble fireplaces and wooden floors. The Period furniture in the main lounge and dining room matches the Victorian features and a second lounge has drink making facilities, with south facing views of the extensive gardens.
The accommodation at Model Farm is very versatile providing up to 11 bedrooms. All the bedrooms are either double or family bedrooms. Many of the beds can be either large doubles or 2 singles, with additional beds in some of the family bedrooms allowing for a variety of different bed configurations to suit your specific needs. There are 10 bathrooms, including 6 en-suite.
Plan Your Stay
Model Farm offers the perfect balance of space, comfort, and flexibility. Inside, the house exudes charm with its spacious rooms, high ceilings, and period features. The Victorian wing and rustic farmhouse blend seamlessly, offering large living areas designed for both relaxation and entertainment. The two fully equipped kitchens, one in the main house and another in the Cider Barn, make it easy to cater for large groups, while the dining and lounge areas are perfect for gathering together, whether it’s for a formal meal or a laid-back evening. With adaptable room configurations and a mix of family and double bedrooms, the house ensures a comfortable stay for all.
Step outside, and the property truly shines. With four acres of gardens to explore, you can spend your days lounging, playing garden games, or enjoying the serene beauty of the natural 25m swimming pond. For those looking to unwind, the large wooden hot tub is ideal for soaking under the stars. The outdoor kitchen and wood-fired pizza oven add a rustic touch, creating the perfect setting for alfresco dining or a relaxed evening gathering.
Beyond the property, the surrounding area offers plenty to discover. The Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is just a short drive away, offering scenic hikes and panoramic views. The village of Cannington, within walking distance, provides charming pubs and a historic church, while day trips to Glastonbury, Wells, and Taunton open up a wealth of cultural and historical attractions.
Model Farm’s location also makes it easy to get here. It’s just minutes from the M5, with Bridgwater Railway Station a 10-minute drive away and Bristol Airport less than an hour’s drive. Once you arrive, there’s plenty of parking, making it convenient to gather your guests and enjoy everything the house and grounds have to offer.
Whether you're planning a family celebration, a business retreat, or a peaceful getaway, Model Farm is the ideal place to relax, reconnect, and make lasting memories.
Model Farm offers a wealth of space for groups to relax, reconnect, and celebrate — with a layout that flows between the rustic charm of the original farmhouse and the grand proportions of its Victorian addition.
The 55 sqm orangery is a standout feature — a light-filled, flexible space that works just as well for yoga and workshops as it does for banquets, dancing, or late-night movie screenings on the 75” TV. While noise is limited in the orangery after 11pm, the thick-walled Victorian lounge is the perfect spot for night owls to keep the party going.
Just next to the orangery is a newly renovated kitchen, thoughtfully equipped for large group catering. Also on this level are bedrooms and bathrooms, including a wheelchair-accessible option. At the far end of a long corridor, you’ll find the old Cider Barn — home to a second kitchen, a rustic bedroom above, and a covered loggia with a large gas BBQ just outside.
From here, a few steps lead up to the ground floor of the Victorian wing. The dining room can seat large groups across three or four tables, while the second lounge offers drinks facilities and south-facing garden views. The main lounge, with its bay windows, intricate mouldings, and surround sound system, is perfect for evening gatherings or quiet moments by the fire.
Upstairs, the accommodation splits between the farmhouse and Victorian wings. The farmhouse level includes two family bedrooms, a double room, and four bathrooms. The final three bedrooms — two spacious doubles and a large family room — are located in the Victorian wing, each with an en-suite and garden views.
There’s no shortage of ways to enjoy your time at Model Farm — whether you're chasing adventure, soaking up the peace, or somewhere in between.
Step outside to discover four acres of glorious gardens, where wildflower meadows, cottage-style planting, and mature trees create a truly tranquil setting. There’s plenty of seating scattered throughout, perfect for quiet moments with a book or a morning coffee in the sun.
For those ready to play, you’ll find garden games on the lawn and a natural 25m swimming pond — complete with a patio area for lounging poolside. When the sun dips, gather around the outdoor kitchen, fire up the wood-fired pizza oven, or take a soak under the stars in the large wooden hot tub.
Whether it’s slow mornings, al fresco evenings, or a full day of outdoor fun, Model Farm invites you to make the most of every moment.
Model Farm sits in the quiet hamlet of Perry Green, surrounded by Somerset countryside but just eight minutes from the centre of Bridgwater. It feels blissfully rural, yet you’re only a short hop from the M5 — ideal for groups coming from all corners of the UK.
The local area is rich in natural beauty, with the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a short drive away. There are scenic walks, panoramic viewpoints, and peaceful woodlands to explore. The nearby village of Cannington is walkable and offers cosy pubs, a historic church, and an atmospheric walled garden.
