Standlow Farm
Big cottages and barns for families, friends, and celebrations in the Derbyshire countryside.
Standlow Farm is a collection of large cottages and converted barns set in the Derbyshire countryside, created for time spent together. It’s a place that suits family holidays, reunions with friends, and celebrations that need space, without feeling formal or over-structured.
Located near Ashbourne, the farm combines traditional stone buildings with open rural views and flexible accommodation. The cottages and barns can be booked individually or in combination, making it easy to shape a stay around the size of your group and how you plan to spend your time together.
Accommodation is spread across six properties, ranging from smaller cottages to larger shared buildings, allowing groups to stay together while still having their own space. All properties are thoughtfully equipped, with well-prepared kitchens, comfortable bedrooms, and private outdoor space to enjoy throughout the stay.
Beyond holidays and celebrations, Standlow Farm also lends itself well to team gatherings, planning sessions, and small residential retreats. The mix of flexible indoor spaces, reliable Wi-Fi, and a peaceful countryside setting allows for focused time together, balanced by space to step outside and slow the pace. For couples planning a wedding, the setting offers space and flexibility rather than fixed packages. With open countryside views and accommodation on site, celebrations can unfold over a weekend, with family and friends staying close and the freedom to design a day that feels personal.
Plan Your Stay
Standlow Farm is well set up for groups who want a mix of shared time and flexibility. The layout makes it easy to spend the day together, then drift off into smaller pockets of activity without feeling split up.
A separate games barn provides a relaxed, indoor space that works well for all ages and tends to become a natural gathering point over the course of a stay. Outside, shared outdoor areas and fire pits offer space to sit out in the evenings, while private outdoor areas linked to individual cottages give quieter options during the day.
Three of the properties include private hot tubs (available at an additional cost), offering an easy way to slow things down after a long walk or a full day exploring the surrounding countryside.
The farm is dog friendly, making it a practical choice for groups travelling with pets, and the mix of cottages means guests can arrive together while still having the option to break into smaller groups as plans shift over the weekend.
Accommodation at Standlow Farm is spread across six properties, allowing groups to choose a combination that suits how they want to stay together.
Bluebell, Clover and Daisy Cottages are smaller, self-contained cottages that work well for families or groups who prefer their own space. Each offers open-plan living areas and outdoor space directly linked to the cottage, making them easy, practical bases for everyday living.
The Barn is a larger converted building designed with group stays in mind. Its layout centres around shared living and dining areas, making it a natural choice for bringing everyone together at mealtimes or in the evenings.
Highview Grange is the largest property on the site, sleeping up to 18 guests. With generous dining space and room to spread out, it’s often used as the main hub for larger groups while still allowing guests to retreat to other cottages across the farm.
Across all properties, bedrooms are set up for comfort rather than formality, with practical layouts suited to group stays. Kitchens are well equipped for self-catering at scale, and each property includes access to outdoor space, giving groups the flexibility to gather or unwind as they choose.
Time at Standlow Farm tends to be unstructured and easy, with space to shape days around the group you’re travelling with.
On site, the games barn offers a relaxed indoor space that works well for mixed ages and different energy levels, whether that’s a competitive afternoon or something more low key in the evenings. Outdoor areas across the farm provide room to spend time outside, with fire pits offering a natural place to gather as the day winds down.
The surrounding countryside lends itself to walking and exploring straight from the door, making it easy to head out for fresh air without planning a full day away. For groups staying longer, the layout of the farm also makes it simple to split into smaller groups — some heading out, others staying behind — and regroup later.
With private outdoor areas linked to individual cottages and larger shared spaces elsewhere on the site, activities can be as social or as slow-paced as the group prefers.
Standlow Farm sits in open countryside on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales, with easy access to the wider Peak District. The setting feels rural and unhurried, with space to head out for walks directly from the farm or take short drives to nearby villages and market towns.
Ashbourne is the closest town, offering shops, cafés, and everyday essentials, while the surrounding area is well known for its network of footpaths, quiet lanes, and scenic routes through rolling countryside. This makes Standlow Farm a good base for groups who want a balance of time spent on site and gentle days out without long journeys.
The location works particularly well for group stays, with enough nearby options to keep everyone occupied while still feeling tucked away once you return to the farm.
